EMPERORS PALACE IN SPLIT
When roman emperor Diocletian decided to abdicate from te throne in 305. AD, he decided to build a palace where he will spend the rest of his days away from emperor’s resposibilities. Palace was built in a large cove facing the sun, the sea and the islands – and that’s how Split was born. Palace is the most preserved Roman monument today, and its under UNESCO protection. Diocletian prosecuted Christians during the day, and he strolled along the porch ear the sea in the evenings. Streets inside the palace are adapted to modern lifestyle, but if you take a stroll you are bound to come upon sphinx or a Roman statue. If a Roman emperor decided to spend the rest of his life there pehaps you could try it for while, if only for your vacation.
